outgunned

I couldn't even count how many AMD Discover guys were in the EB3 yesterday. The peloton was a sea of blue.

The race started promisingly enough, with an early break with Sean and a strong Davis guy starting things off. We were caught by Roman's group of eight guys or so I think, next. There was a lot of games going on which made it really tiring. I could tell it wasn't going to be a great day, the legs were taking a toll.

Next a big group of Discovery riders bridged up, and that's when more trouble started. They kept letting big gaps open up, forcing riders to power over to get back on the group. Jackson Stewart was there too. With three or four to go a big gap was allowed to open and I couldn't get across. That was it.... we kept them in sight but couldn't close it entirely. Could see the finish but couldn't participate. Frustrating... live and learn I guess.

Oh! and can't forget riding the new Look. Really nice...

damn it...

Wilk broke his collar bone yesterday on Pinehurst. Bummer, but he seems to be doing well. Hope that he'll be back racing in late February either way.

EB #2

Had a bigger crowd out today at least. Around 40 to 50 riders. There was a Fast Freddy sighting at the beginning but don't think he raced.

There were a bunch of little breaks the first 15 minutes that reshuffled a bunch of times before the winning break developed: Nolan, Hellman?, Briggs, Hutchinson, Bennet, Leader, me, JD, Ma? We seemed to get a pretty good gap. Sean said is was 20 seconds but I couldn't see the pack...

Felt OK about the sprint. Larry led it out with Briggs second wheel and me third. Briggs came around and I tried but couldn't come around him. There was no official line so I'm not sure if I beat Larry for second or not.

Good fun... beautiful weather, nice ride to and from the race.

Back to the beginning

It's always hard to miss the first Early Bird, so cruised down there for it. Got a flat and had to hammer most of the way down there to get regged in time for the start. Was a very small group and started as a pace line exercise but then I rolled off the front with Billy Innes and they never caught us surprisingly. I couldn't out fox Innes and he took me for the win.
