Cause you know of no pain, nor contest that separates the men from the boys. Its not just about tactics but how much you can suffer. There is no hiding, it humbles the badest assess...and quickly. How long can you hang n the red zone for? I hope for over an 1 hour...cause that's what you'll be doing in cross. From the gun it's red line city.
At the same time it's a lot of fun. The mix gives you a chance to do something different. When you do well it's a testament to your strength.
Now on the social side of things, cause its so freakin tough and closed circuit it's a great spectator sport. Through in some music and you can really work with and enjoy the crowd.
Besides mud is fun and doesn't hurt when you crash.
Joel - sorry I missed this earlier...while the sage gets most of it, the real reason is:
Belgain Ale, Sausages, and it's the most fun you can have puking.
